In Canada and in others country, some adolescents are not living the lives they could have. Some children and youth have difficulties in their live style. Those kids develop delinquent behavior because that’s the only way for them to get the attention and respect from others. Across studies, approximately 5% to 15% of youths who enter the justice system become serious offenders whose criminal trajectories are quite lengthy (https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/fctrs-dlnqnc/index-en.aspx). That’s why youth centers are made, to restore their lives.
1. You Can Change Lives
For those young people, you and your coworkers are the
only person they can trust even if trust could be hard to get and specially for
young delinquent. This could be hard, but if you can make a good relationship
with them, they will be more open to talk to you. If you know all their
concerns, you can give them some possibilities to get through their issues. If that youth make the effort to make it through with
your advice, you can literally change their lives and they will be grateful to
you because you were there when nobody was.
2. You Can Learn More About You
Those people can teach you more about yourself. They
make you realize that life isn’t that easy for everyone. You learn to
appreciate what you have and you want, at this point help others so they can
restore their lives. When those teenagers tell you their stories and issues in
life, sometimes that can bring you some memories about your past and you need
to solve those problems before supporting others in their problems. If you know
yourself better, you are abler to give some good advice to others.
3. You Can Have Fun
If you work for a youth center, you will have fun.
That job is not like other job office where you sit all day long and you are
writing stuff in documents. In a youth center you have to interact with other
and most of the time you have some activities to do with those young people,
like sports activities, cooking workshop, intellectual activities and much
more. So, if you work for a youth center you will get paid for having good time
with your " client
". Interacting with
others will help those young people to develop social behavior instead of
antisocial behavior, so you are contributing to increase their leaderships.
Conclusion
To conclude, working for a youth center make your life and others lives better, you get to know you and you will get paid for having a good time. That’s so awesome! Teenagers need people like you to change their lives forever in a good way.
